The abundant visual material that resides on the web is truly an amazing resource for us all. Photographs that we've never seen before, obscure design material that has never been published, contemporary (and vintage) art and architecture from esoteric sources, not to mention the wonderful oddities and ephemera... it is all out there waiting to be discovered.

But without the passion and hard work of many, many people that take the time to locate, scan and assemble this terrific material, we would not have the opportunity to enjoy these treasures.

When I am looking for things that strike my fancy there are certain 'must see' sites that I look at. I'd like to take a moment to thank, acknowledge and link to some of these great and important sites.

These are but just a few of the many sites that are worth visiting:

This Isn't Happiness
Things Magazine
Les Avant-Gardes
Human Resources
Paleo Future
That's Right
Architectectuurantiquariaat Opbouw
Curious Expeditions
Musselsoppans Vänner
Reference Library
ArtBBQ
Travel Brochuregraphics
UCLA Library
Yale University Beinecke Library
Duke University Library
The Memory of the Netherlands

Here are Today’s images.

I find myself always using UCLA's Melvyl system. Its such an amazing resource, because 1) its WorldCat for free (most libraries use WorldCat but you need to have a school ID to login to it) and 2) it allows you to tag and annotate items. It will become an even more amazing resource as it progresses and people add their own findings to it. I'm amazed more hasn't been written about it, but I'm guessing its because I don't frequent library science sites...

Great article! I'm another aficionado/collector of odd cultural ephemera and it was a joy to see an article on the subject.
